Our story

My name is Natasha and I am an flower farmer, florist and all round garden enthusiast. My love for flowers began growing up in rural West Yorkshire when I was captivated by Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies. It was impossible to ignore the seasonal shifts in the meadows and hedgerows and I still have my handwritten lists of flower varieties and their different shades.

After city life in London and a couple of years in Singapore, where seasons are barely perceptible, I was determined to return to the Yorkshire countryside and embrace the British seasons.

Keen to give our young family more space, we swapped our postage stamp London garden for a larger project in the Yorkshire Dales. Following several years rejuvenating the garden, it was a natural step to use the space productively and grow flowers for others to enjoy.

At Secret Door Flowers, we grow quality flowers and foliage which truly reflect the charm of the Yorkshire seasons. Our growing methods are as natural as possible, including on-site chicken manure composting, chemical-free biological pest controls, rainwater collection and organic fertilisers.

We have half an acre under production, including a small walled garden, and are always trialling new cultivars. While our primary business is providing wedding for local brides, we also offer ‘Friday Flowers’ subscriptions and supply local businesses, wedding florists, sustainable funerals and film sets.

Our style

Our bouquets reflect a natural, garden gathered style where each flower has its space to dance. We love to use fragranced flowers, herbs and ornamental grasses whenever we can. We supply flowers from mid-April to mid-October.
