Autumn Grow Your Own Cut Flowers Workshop, Friday 13 September 2024 10am - 12.30pm

£45.00

This workshop is suitable for those who would like to kick start their 2025 cut flower garden in autumn. At Secret Door Flowers we sow many hardy annuals and perennials in September for earlier flowers the following year. You will need to overwinter your seedlings once they are established so you will ideally have access to a greenhouse, cold frame or ‘zippy’ to protect them from heavy rain and snow. The varieties we are sowing will be Yorkshire-hardy so can survive low winter temperatures and do not need heat.

Whether you are complete beginner or are looking for new ideas, we will guide you through our flower growing process and share our knowledge and tips with you.

Starting with a tour of the cutting garden, we will discuss which varieties we grow and how we ensure a succession of flowers throughout the season. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions as we sow a variety of seed and pot on some seedlings for you to take home.

We will also cover caring for your plants at the different growth stages, and ultimately cutting and conditioning your home-grown flowers! Refreshments will be provided and we will also give you a selection of our own seedlings to take home ready to plant out.

The workshop will take place in the greenhouse so please wear warm clothes and suitable footwear. We do expect that the workshop will be able to go ahead whatever the weather.

Venue: Linton House, Linton, BD23 5HQ

Please be aware that our workshops are non refundable.
